The New Balance 550 silhouette has seen much popularity since the vintage low-cut basketball sneaker's re-release as part of the brand's collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore. Originally debuted in 1989, the P550 model joined the Boston footwear label's long list of timeless designs. Now as part of a heavy push through 2021, the BB550 sneaker is set to take on a host of new colorways/iterations.
This latest rendition of the 550 sneaker comes in the form of a multicolored palette of bold and bright colors featuring a mix of green, navy, red and yellow for an all-around retro sportswear aesthetic, vivid for the Summer Season. Now seen in an everyday Black colorway, this Women's-exclusive W990BK5 utilizes a greyscale aesthetic perfect for wear throughout the 4 seasons. This 'Made in the USA' sneaker receives a black pigskin and mesh upper, complete with a two-tone white & light grey rubber midsole featuring a silver ENCAP heel wrapping and dual density collar foam. While many other releases put their spin on the traditional red and gold colorways synonymous with Chinese Lunar New Year, New Balance utilizes neutral tones with the 2002R sporting a black, army, beige and navy palette. Using a more subtle inspiration, the sneaker includes smaller 'CNY' details to pay tribute to the Ox. Since its revival last year by Teddy Santis and his fashion imprint 'Aimé Leon Dore', the New Balance 550 silhouette has regained much of its popularity for its vintage basketball aesthetic. With much international attention under the spotlight, the brand continues to play with new colorways and interpretations of the classic retro model this 2021 Summer Season.
Three new colorways start off dressed primarily in a classic white leather styling with contrasting overlays along the side logo, outsole, collar and tongue. The first plays with a brighter 'Canary Yellow' hue, a bit more bold than the other two muted releases. The second, sees the same colored panels as the former, this time in a washed vintage sportswear-inspired 'Maroon' burgundy. Finally, the most simple of the trio, a Black iteration sticks with a darker neutral contrast. The BB550 silhouette also utilizes suede along the toebox for added texture in a slightly greyish tone for a vintage feel.

NEW BALANCE 'MADE IN USA' M990KBM2
New Balance brings forth its latest Made in the USA 990 iteration using a natural color palette of greens, greys and hints of blue. The silhouette is constructed from a premium nubuck upper in an olive green-tinted grey, while a lightly toned blue dresses the mesh underlays seen throughout the vintage running shoe.
Like many New Balance models, the upper sits atop a rubber outsole in contrasting crisp white with included ABZORB technology for added comfort. The sneaker also sports a leather tongue in a lighter neutral grey that is slightly contrasted by the white stitching on the tongue tag announcing the '990' silhouette. The 990's signature 'N' logo sits on each side panel in a white leather with the same blue tinted outline, while a 'USA' stamp sits at the heel in bold silver-grey lettering. The lacing system on the silhouette also has the same blue tint that contrasts the greyish upper perfectly. NEW BALANCE 'MADE IN USA' M990GRY
Celebrating 39 years since the silhouette's first debut, New Balance unveils its limited-edition re-release of the classic M990GRY, Made in the USA to the Boston Footwear giant's original specification. Seldom seen in its original Version 1 (V1) shape, the 990's iconic design inspired many of the brand's most popular models, such as the 574, following its release. Having now been iterated in 5 different versions, the 990 V1 still remains one of the most collectable among New Balance fans worldwide.
True to its 1982 construction, the M990GRY sees a mix of tonal grey's on its upper, in a mix of suede and mesh. White contrast details can be seen on the 'N' Logo and lacing, while a reflective 3M tab is added to the heel. A vintage off-white heel support wraps the back of the sneaker, and a pre-ENCAP era EVA foam cushioned midsole complete the 990.

NEW BALANCE x JADEN SMITH VISION RACER
After previous color releases from the Jaden Smith and New Balance collaboration, the Spring 2021 season includes a new all white women’s colorway of the Vision Racer silhouette as well as a new black colorway for men.
Inspired by the NB 1700 and X-Racer, the New Balance x Jaden Smith Vision Racer features tonal suede and mesh uppers with some materials used being made in part from vegan friendly faux leather and suede as well as recycled plastics and textiles. Each pair’s colorway panels sit at the midsection, while custom “VISION RACER” piping lines across each shoe’s body in a neon pink colorway similar to previous iterations that have released. New Balance logos also rest at the mid foot and heel cuffs. “VISIONS” branding lies beneath the translucent rubber outsoles and embellishes the tongue tabs.
